Vivek Kumar is Director of AI Innovation and Strategy at Oracle CX, based in Austin, Texas. He works where enterprise CRM meets applied AI, aligning Oracle CX with where the customer experience market is heading and building the solutions that get customers there.
In more than 20 years at Oracle, he has worked through three waves of enterprise AI: conversational AI and chatbots, generative AI in the enterprise, and agentic workflows for CRM. He led the effort to bring Oracle Digital Assistant to Fusion Applications, brought Oracle CRM into collaboration platforms such as Slack, and led platform engineering that consolidated Fusion Applications deployments from 64 server instances to 12.
He is a named inventor on 23 patents spanning machine learning for sales orchestration and opportunity insights, large language model query management, omnichannel bot communication and runtime customization of enterprise applications. He is also the author of Simulational Sensation with C++ (Narosa, 2011) and of Oracle's white paper on building custom Fusion Applications.
He was named an Oracle Innovator in 2009 for Oracle JDeveloper extensions adopted by developers inside and outside Oracle, and received the Oracle Cloud Customer Connect Gold Medal in 2025. He has spoken at Economist Impact's Innovation for Progress: Austin Summit, ODTUG Kscope and the UK Oracle User Group conference, presented to patent examiners at the US Patent and Trademark Office Tech Fair, appeared on The Brave Technologist podcast, and judges and mentors Oracle CX hackathons and innovation competitions.
He holds a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence, completed the Senior Management Programme at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, and earned Stanford University's Innovation and Entrepreneurship Professional Certificate, awarded jointly by Stanford Engineering and the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He writes the CX AI Innovation Corner on the Oracle blog, and shares what he has learned about making agentic AI practical for enterprises (reliable, governed and measurable) through talks, writing and pro bono mentoring.
